On the 13th January we started our weekly Sunday Service at 4pm. On the 13th there was just Janine and Judy in attendance! however, we put the time to good use and prayed with each other and for the community. The following week, 20th, we experienced heavy snow BUT two people turned up so that made four of us for worship. On the 27th a family of eight joined us for the service and a single lady so that made eleven. Janine and Judy are delighted that each week has seen a steady increase and, yesterday 3rd March, there were twenty in attendance.
We have tried to bring a different element to the services each week so, one week, we had Cafe Church based on the Ten Commandments - another week, as illustrated in the photo, we started with tea and toast.
This week, 3rd March, we looked at 'Altars' - Janine led a 'Godly Play' session on the story of Noah and the ark and built an altar from pebbles. The children sat around on the floor and helped with story by placing the animals in their positions.
There was also an opportunity for everyone to build their own altar in the sand - remembering an occasion to be thankful for. After which, some of the adults came forward and lit a candle in exchange for a pebble.
We had asked for people to bring things to place on the altar in the church and we were delighted with contributions that the children brought - from a friendship heart shaped soap to a tube of toothpaste!!!
